(Adnkronos) – Protecting shipping in the highly sensitive Strait of Hormuz means entering the United States-Israel war on Iran, Italy’s foreign minister Antonio Tajani said Tuesday as a growing list of nations, including many European powers, turned down US president Donald Trump’s request to help police the global oil transport route.
“We have always stayed out of this war. Intervening in the Strait of Hormuz effectively means going to war, which has consequences,” Tajani told a conference in Rome.
“I have qualms about getting involved in a war in the Strait of Hormuz,” Tajani said.
