(Adnkronos) – An Italian citizen and two French nationals have been arrested on the island of Bali, Indonesia, on charges of producing and distributing pornographic content in the Muslim-majority country that prohibits such material. Joseph Edward Purba, head of the Badung district police in Bali, announced this to journalists, explaining that the two French nationals, a man and a woman, and the Italian citizen are suspected of having sought to “profit from pornographic videos and content.” The three face up to 10 years in prison for producing pornographic content and an additional six years for its online distribution.
The French woman, described as the “content creator,” and the Italian were arrested last Friday while attempting to leave Bali for Thailand, immigration authorities reported. The French citizen, described as the woman’s “manager,” was arrested a few days later in Badung. The investigation against them began with “a viral video containing pornographic content circulating on social media,” Joseph explained.
