(Adnkronos) – Initial gas deliveries have been made from from Angola’s New Gas Consortium (NGC)’s trailblazing offshore Quiluma field, a signficant milestone for the country’s energy sector, Italian major Eni said in a statement on Tuesday.
Initial gas exports from Quiluma is set at 150 MMcfd with output expected to ramp up to 330 MMsfd by end-2026. Gas will be treated at the NGC gas treatment plant in Soyo, inaugurated in November 2025, and then supplied to the Angola LNG plant for export and domestic consumption, said the statement.
NGC focuses on developing the first non-associated gas fields in Angola – natural gases drawn from wells without significant crude oil – the statement said. It is also set to optimise the country’s LNG exports and the utilization of domestic gas for local development.
NGC is Angola’s first non-associated gas project and is operated by Azule Energy (37.4%); Cabinda Gulf Oil Company (31%); Sonangol (19.8%) and TotalEnergies, 11.8%). It was operated by Eni before the establishment of Azule Energy, an Eni upstream satellite.
Azule Energy – an Eni and BP joint venture – produces over 230,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and is a key contributor to Angola’s energy development and green transition, according to the statment.
