(Adnkronos) – The Islamist group Ashab al-Yamin, linked to attacks against Jewish institutions, has claimed responsibility for an explosion that occurred overnight in the ‘Atrium’ office complex, in Amsterdam’s Zuidas financial district. Dutch media report that police are investigating and examining security camera footage. The explosion caused a fire, which was quickly extinguished by the building’s security guards, a police spokesperson said.
In the claim video, the emerging group stated that it targeted the Bank of New York Mellon in the Atrium office building, which is located next to the World Trade Center. The footage shows an unidentified individual igniting an improvised explosive device and then fleeing, followed by images of an explosion. The logo at the end of the video shows an arm outstretched upwards with a rifle pointed to the right, while in the background there is a red flag and olive branches. At the top appears the phrase “jihad, steadfastness, victory”. The organization that claimed the action, whose name translates to “Movement of the Righteous”, is also linked to an attack against a school in Buitenveldert last weekend.
