(Adnkronos) – Italy and Monaco enjoy strong ties and a high level of economic integration, foreign minister Antonio Tajani said on Friday, underlining that Italian exports to the principality hit 643 billion euros in value last year, an annual increase of over 3 percent.
Tajani made the remarks in an opening address via video link ti the Italy–Principality of Monaco Business Forum in Montecarlo alongside Prince Albert II of Monaco, who attended the event with Italy’s foreign undersecretary Maria Tripodi and Monaco’s finance minister, Pierre-Andre Chiappori.
“In his remarks, the minister (Tajani) highlighted the strength of relations between Italy and the Monaco, characterised by a high level of economic integration. He also underlined the efforts undertaken to promote Italian exports, which reached 643 billion euros in 2025, marking an increase of 3.3%,” said a foreign ministry statement.
Monaco “represents an outstanding international showcase, capable of projecting an image of excellence, innovation and competitiveness worldwide—an image to which approximately 2,500 companies linked to Italian citizens operating in the Principality contribute,” the statement cited Tripodi as telling the forum.
Over 200 Italian and Monegasque companies attended the event which revolved around around panel discussions on key sectors for bilateral economic cooperation, including interior architecture, jewellery and fashion, yachting, hospitality and restaurants, as well as the financial sector, the statement said.
An extensive series of B2B meetings aims to foster new collaboration opportunities, especially in the luxury, tourism, yachting and financial services sectors, the statement added.
