(Adnkronos) – The Saudi oil giant Saudi Aramco is in talks with at least two Ukrainian companies to purchase interceptor drones to defend its facilities from possible Iranian attacks. This is reported by the Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources, according to which the negotiations involve the Ukrainian companies SkyFall and Wild Hornets. The Saudi company is reportedly moving quickly to secure the drones before the government of Riyadh and other regional actors, including Qatar.
In parallel, the Saudi government has also initiated contacts with Kyiv for the purchase of similar systems. Officials in Riyadh have also reportedly spoken with the Ukrainian company Phantom Defense, which develops electronic warfare systems capable of disabling drone communications.
On Saturday, the Berri oil field was hit by a drone, likely launched by the Islamic Republic, according to Saudi officials. In recent days, attacks attributed to Tehran have targeted several energy facilities in the region.
