(Adnkronos) – Italy has sent a message of condolence to Switzerland after a bus caught fire in the western town of Kerzers on Tuesday killing at least six people and injuring five others.
“I express my deepest condolences for the tragic accident in Kerzers in the Canton of Fribourg.” foreign minister Antonio Tajani wrote on X:
“Italy stands with Switzerland. In this moment of grief, my thoughts go to those who lost their lives and their families,” the post continued.
“I wish the injured a swift recovery and that our friends the Swiss people feel the affection and solidarity of all Italians,” the post concluded.
Investigators are treating the incident as man-made and possibly caused by a deliberate act of self-immolation, according to Fribourg cantonal police.
Kerzers is a small town some 20 kilometres west of the Swiss capital, Berne.
