5 Marzo 2026

(Adnkronos) – 200 Russian military personnel, prisoners of the Ukrainian forces, have been repatriated from the territory controlled by Kyiv. In exchange, 200 Ukrainian Armed Forces prisoners of war have been transferred. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense. The Russian military personnel are currently in Belarus – the ministry added – where they are receiving the necessary psychological and medical assistance. All Russian military personnel will be transferred to the Russian Federation for treatment and rehabilitation at the medical facilities of the Russian Ministry of Defense. The United States and the United Arab Emirates carried out mediation activities during the exchange.

After today’s release, by tomorrow Moscow and Kyiv will each return another 300 prisoners of war, Moscow announced. In total, therefore, 500 prisoners will be exchanged on each side. “There will be an exchange of prisoners of war with Ukraine. 500 for 500,” Russian negotiator Vladimir Medinsky wrote on Telegram, adding that the exchange is part of the agreements reached during trilateral talks between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States in Geneva to end the conflict.
