(Adnkronos) – London strengthens its military presence in the Eastern Mediterranean. British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, has confirmed the deployment to Cyprus of the destroyer HMS Dragon and helicopters equipped with anti-drone capabilities, following a conversation with the president of the Mediterranean island, Nikos Christodoulides.
“We will always act in the interest of the United Kingdom and our allies,” Starmer declared, announcing the strengthening of British defensive operations in the area. HMS Dragon is a Type 45 destroyer and is the only asset of the British Navy capable of intercepting and shooting down ballistic missiles.
