(Adnkronos) – Israel is responsible for the killing of two-thirds of the 129 journalists and media workers killed worldwide last year, a total of 86, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ). The CPJ noted an increase in the use of drones to kill journalists last year. Of the 39 journalists killed by drones, the Israeli army killed 28 in Gaza. The CPJ stated that the rising death toll among journalists “is fueled by a persistent culture of impunity,” with very few transparent investigations conducted into the 47 cases of targeted killings of journalists in 2025.
