Brazil, record rain, at least 14 dead and over 440 displaced

(Adnkronos) – At least 14 people have died and over 440 have been displaced in southeastern Brazil, in the state of Minas Gerais, due to what have been described as the heaviest rains ever recorded in February in the country. As reported by TeleSur, the toll could worsen as many are still missing. 

In the municipality of Juiz de Fora, the mayor declared a state of calamity after the rains caused at least 20 landslides and the streets were flooded due to the overflowing Paraibuna river.
