(Adnkronos) – Foreign minister Antonio Tajani underlined Italy’s ongoing support for the war-shattered Gaza Strip’s reconstruction and its civilians during talks in Washington DC on Thursday with the High Representative of US president Donald Trump’s Board of Peace, Nickolay Mladenov.

Tajani is representing Italy as an observer at the Board of Peace’s inaugural meeting.
“I outlined to him (Mladenov) Italy’s commitment in the areas of reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, strengthening Palestinian institutional capacities, and more generally the food, health and educational security of the Palestinian people,” the post went on.
“Through Italy’s #FoodforGaza initiative, together with FAO and WFP, we have developed key expertise that we are ready to put at the service of the international community,” the post added.
Tajani launched the Food for Gaza scheme in March 2024 which the government is spearheading in coordination with Rome-based UN agencies World Food Programme and the Food and Agriculture Organisation, the Red Cross and Red Crescent and Italy’s civil protection agency.
