Bangladesh: elections, BNP nationalists win more than two-thirds of parliamentary seats

(Adnkronos) – According to data from the Bangladesh Election Commission, the nationalist BNP party alliance won 212 seats in Parliament, more than two-thirds, while 77 went to the coalition led by Jamaat-e-Islami. The Commission’s secretary, Akhtar Ahmed, told reporters. Approximately 59% of eligible voters cast their ballots. The referendum on constitutional reforms passed with 60% of the votes.
