(Adnkronos) – Italy wants to continuously boost its presence in Latin America and be a ‘reference point’ for the region – a goal that former under-secretary Giorgio Silli can help achieve as the International Italo-Latin American Organisation’s new secretary-general, according to foreign minister Antonio Tajani.
“Congratulations to @GiorgioSilli, new secretary-general of @iila_org. He was an excellent foreign under-secretary, and I thank him for the work he carried out,” Tajani wrote on X late Monday.
“He will make a precious contribution towards strengthening Italy’s role throughout Latin America, a region in which we want to be increasingly present and a reference point,” the post continued.
