Egypt, ‘Epstein’ themed party banned in Cairo, organizer arrested

(Adnkronos) – An ‘Epstein’ themed party, inspired by the American financier Jeffrey Epstein who died in prison, scheduled in a Cairo nightclub, has been banned and its organizer arrested. This was announced by the Egyptian Ministry of Interior.

“The event, scheduled for tonight with free entry for women, comes amidst the controversy following the publication, on January 30, of new documents on the Epstein case. “The party had been announced without obtaining the necessary permits from the competent authorities,” the ministry explained, specifying that measures have been taken “to prevent its occurrence” and that legal actions have been initiated.

The affair erupted after a video was circulated on social media in which a woman denounced the inappropriateness of the party. The ministry’s note is accompanied by a photo of the arrested organizer, with his face blurred, and the promotional flyer for the party. Contacted by AFP via the contact details indicated on the flyer, the nightclub stated that it “had nothing to do with the event.” One of the three DJs advertised on the flyer also denied any involvement.
