EXCLUSIVE: Keidanren to Name Boston Consulting’s Akiike Vice Chair

Tokyo, Feb. 5 (Jiji Press)–The Japan Business Federation, or Keidanren, is set to appoint Reiko Akiike, 61, co-chair of Boston Consulting Group Japan, as vice chair of the powerful business lobby, Jiji Press learned Thursday. Currently, Yumiko Noda, 66, chair of Veolia Japan G.K., is the only woman serving as vice chair. With Akiike’s appointment, Keidanren will have two female vice chairs. Following an unofficial confirmation expected on Monday, Akiike is expected to take office after a regular general meeting in June. Kentaro Okuda, 62, president and group CEO of Nomura Holdings Inc., will also become Keidanren vice chair. Akiike currently serves as vice chair of Keidanren’s Board of Councillors. She has also held positions such as vice chair of the Japan Association of Corporate Executives, known as Keizai Doyukai, and a member of government panels. Akiyoshi Koji, 74, honorary chairman of Asahi Group Holdings Ltd., and Koji Nagai, 67, chairman of the board of directors at Nomura Holdings, will retire. END [Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
