USA, video emerges of clash between Pretti and Ice a week before death

(Adnkronos) – Alex Pretti, the 37-year-old nurse killed by federal agents last Saturday in Minneapolis, had an altercation with Ice a week before his death. This is shown in a video that was released by The News Movement, a digital news outlet founded by former BBC and Dow Jones staff. A representative of the Pretti family confirmed the authenticity of the video, explaining that the parents were aware of the incident that occurred on January 13.

The video shows Pretti yelling at an Ice vehicle that was blocking a road intersection and then kicking one of the taillights. At this point, an agent gets out of the car and grabs Pretti, throwing him to the ground. Other agents rush to restrain him, while others fire tear gas at the other demonstrators. Pretti manages to escape the agents’ grasp, and as he moves away, he is seen with a gun in his waistband.

Then Pretti and the other demonstrators continue to shout at Ice to leave, and the federal agents drive away. Tnm states that the video was analyzed by the BBC using facial recognition systems, which confirmed with 97% certainty that it was Pretti. The Pretti family’s lawyer, Steve Schleider, stated that the video shows that “Alex was violently attacked by Ice agents without posing a threat to anyone. Nothing that happened a week earlier can in any way justify Alex’s killing by Ice on January 24.”
