(Adnkronos) – Eleven death sentences carried out in China. According to the official Xinhua news agency, these are individuals linked to organized crime “based in northern Myanmar,” among whom there are “key people” involved in “telecom fraud.” The eleven had been sentenced last September by a court in Wenzhou city, Zhejiang province, for crimes ranging from “fraud” to “casino management,” from “illegal detention” of people to “intentional homicide” in connection with the deaths of 14 Chinese citizens and the injury of others.

The conviction was confirmed in November, according to official media reports from the Asian giant, by the Zhejiang Provincial High People’s Court and then by the Supreme People’s Court. The charges speak of estimated proceeds of 10 billion yuan. The eleven are members of the Ming family, one of the groups operating in Laukkaing, the BBC specifies, recalling the ‘fall’ of the Ming clan when they were arrested and handed over to China in 2023 by militias that had taken control of the town.
