(Adnkronos) – Almost four years after the start of the war against Ukraine, a poll shows that most Russians feel surrounded by hostile foreign powers, primarily Poland and Lithuania, and consider their country a victim. Lev Gudkov, head of the Levada research center, considered a foreign agent in Russia, presented the results of the poll, conducted at the request of the Sakharov Foundation, in Berlin.
In the more than 30 years since the collapse of the USSR, Russia has lived only six years without war, between the two wars in Chechnya, Georgia, and then Ukraine. 62 percent of surveyed Russians cite Poland and Lithuania as hostile countries, 57 percent Great Britain, 50 percent Germany, and 40 percent Sweden. The United States is considered a competitor country and not an enemy (53 percent of respondents). When asked to name five friendly countries, Russians cite Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, India, and North Korea.
