(Adnkronos) – Hungary has summoned the Ukrainian ambassador to Budapest, while the government of Prime Minister Viktor Orban accuses Kyiv of ‘interfering’ in the parliamentary elections scheduled for April 12. “We will not allow anyone to endanger our sovereignty and the integrity of our elections – the government announced – We have ordered Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto to summon the Ukrainian ambassador.” In a video accompanying the note published on social media, Orban accuses Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of launching “threatening messages and insults” against his government, which would be part of “a coordinated series of actions to interfere” in the Hungarian vote.
According to the accusations, Kyiv aims for a change of executive in Budapest to unblock its accession to the European Union. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiha “have officially announced their candidacy in the Hungarian elections and have created the Kyiv section of the Respect and Freedom Party (Tisza)” of conservative Peter Magyar, denounced the head of Budapest’s diplomacy.
