(Adnkronos) – Tunisian authorities have announced the elimination of a “terrorist cell” composed of four people in the west of the country, not far from the border with Algeria. The operation was conducted near Majel Ben Abbes, a wooded area where security forces had been monitoring the group’s movements for several days, according to a statement from the Ministry of Interior.
The Tunisian government has not provided details on the suspects’ identities or their potential plans. However, according to local news sites citing security sources, the four were all Tunisian citizens, belonging to the same family and originally from the Hassi el Frid region, in the Kasserine governorate. Also according to the same sources, one of the individuals was killed after detonating an explosive belt during the security forces’ raid.
