Tokyo, Jan. 21 (Jiji Press)–Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings Inc. will restart the No. 6 reactor at its Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear power station in the central Japan prefecture of Niigata at 7 p.m. Wednesday or later, according to company officials. It will be the first reactor restart at the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa plant in 13 years and 10 months, as well as the first for a TEPCO reactor since the March 2011 accident at the company’s tsunami-stricken Fukushima No.1 nuclear plant in northeastern Japan. The move was initially planned for Tuesday but was postponed due to a problem found during test operations. END [Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
