Israel begins demolition of Unrwa headquarters in East Jerusalem

(Adnkronos) – Israeli bulldozers have begun demolition work on the headquarters of Unrwa, the United Nations agency responsible for assisting Palestinian refugees, in East Jerusalem. This was reported by AFP. “The complex does not enjoy any immunity and its seizure by the Israeli authorities was carried out in accordance with Israeli and international law,” the Israeli Foreign Ministry said. An Unrwa official, however, denounced “a serious violation of international law, as well as the privileges and immunities of the United Nations.”
