(Adnkronos) – More than 160 faithful were kidnapped during an attack launched on Sunday by armed groups against two Christian churches in Kurmin Wali, an isolated village in the Kajuru district, in Nigeria’s Kaduna State, in the north of the country, AFP reports, citing local sources. Mass kidnappings have resumed since November. “The attackers arrived in large numbers, blocked the entrance to two churches and forced the faithful out into the bush,” explained Reverend Joseph Hayab, president of the Catholic Association of Nigeria for the north of the country. They kidnapped 172 people, but nine managed to escape. At the end of last year, President Bola Tinubu declared a national state of emergency over the security situation.
