(Adnkronos) – The Greenlandic government has increased its military presence “on and around” the island, as it prepares to conduct exercises with Denmark and other NATO allies to work on Arctic security. In a statement published on its website, the government said the objective of the exercises is “to develop skills in the unique conditions of the Arctic and strengthen the presence of the Arctic community in order to contribute to security in Europe and the Atlantic.”
Rumors about the military deployment began circulating today, when Danish media reported on a movement of troops towards Greenland, including an advanced military command, as part of a larger planned deployment.
