Tokyo, Jan. 14 (Jiji Press)–Dai Nippon Printing Co. and payment machine developer Usen-Almex Inc. said Wednesday they have formed a business partnership to commercialize a contactless hotel check-in system compatible with digital passports. The major printing firm and the Usen Holdings Co. unit specifically aim to combine DNP’s electronic verification technology and Usen-Almex’s digital kiosks to streamline check-in jobs and improve customer satisfaction at a time when e-passports are expected to proliferate globally, they said. From Tuesday, the team will conduct at a hotel in Tokyo’s Shinagawa Ward an experimental project to quickly verify foreign guest information on pre-registered digital passports at the unmanned check-in counter. Joined by other hotels that have already introduced Usen-Almex terminals in and after March, the project will run through June, the companies said. END [Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
