Iraq: Italy eyes stronger cooperation – from infrastructure to energy

(Adnkronos) – Italy wants to bolster cooperation with Iraq in key sectors including infrastructure, health, agriculture and energy, the embassy wrote Tuesday on X as ambassador Niccolo Fontana made a landmark visit to Ramadi. 

“First time for an Italian Ambassador in #Ramadi,” read the post, referring to the central Iraqi city in al-Anbar province that was an Islamic State stronghold from 2003-2006 during the Iraq war. 

“Many thanks to the Governor of Anbar, Omar Mashan Dabbous,” the post continued. 

“From infrastructure to the health, agriculture and energy sectors, Italy stands ready to strengthen its longstanding friendship with Iraq towards a brighter future,” the post concluded.
