Australia: Albanese convenes parliament to approve laws against hate crimes and weapons

(Adnkronos) – Anthony Albanese has convened parliament early to approve new laws against hate speech and weapons following the Bondi Beach terrorist attack. “The Bondi Beach terrorists had hate in their minds but weapons in their hands. This law will address both issues, and we must deal with both,” said the Australian Prime Minister. “We want to ensure that Australia remains a society where everyone has the right to be proud of who they are, and we also want to make it clear that any hateful, dangerous, and divisive behavior will also be illegal.”
