Osaka, Jan. 9 (Jiji Press)–A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder by attacking a policeman with a car in Osaka Prefecture, western Japan. The Osaka prefectural police arrested Yasunori Kubo on Thursday, alleging that he suddenly accelerated his car toward the 31-year-old officer conducting traffic enforcement in a shopping district in the city of Kishiwada around 5:25 p.m. Wednesday. According to police sources, Kubo drove about 700 meters, carrying the officer on his car’s hood. He shook the officer off through swerving and sudden braking. The officer was slightly injured in his hands and knees. Vehicle traffic was forbidden in the shopping district at the time. Kubo accelerated his car when the officer requested him to stop and tried to guide, according to the sources. Kubo has admitted committing the act but denied he had any intent to kill, the sources also said. The registered owner of the car is a member of Kubo’s family. The suspect drove it without a license.
