8 Gennaio 2026

(Adnkronos) – In last Saturday’s American raid in Caracas to capture Nicolas Maduro and his wife, about a hundred people were killed and as many were injured. The new toll was provided by Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello, who described the American operation as “a terrible attack,” anticipating that the number of victims could grow. Among the dead are also many civilians, including women, who were sleeping in their homes when the Americans conducted the raid, he added.

Until now, Venezuelans had spoken of about eighty deaths, including 24 soldiers and 32 Cuban-national security guards for Maduro, as also confirmed by Havana.

During the operation, Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were both injured, Cabello added, according to whom “Cilia was hit in the head and received a blow to the body. ‘Brother’ (comrade) Nicolas was injured in one leg. Fortunately, they are recovering from their injuries.” During the court hearing in New York last Monday, the Venezuelan leader’s wife had indeed appeared with a bandage on her forehead and some bruises near her right eye, while her lawyer had also reported rib contusions.
