(Adnkronos) – The United States’ decision to “arbitrarily” seize ships from other countries on the high seas “seriously violates international law.” This was stated to reporters in Beijing by Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning. China “opposes illegal and unilateral sanctions” and opposes initiatives that violate the sovereignty and security of other countries, Mao said, speaking of yesterday’s “arbitrary” seizure, when US forces announced they had taken possession of the Russian-flagged tanker Marinera, previously known as Bella 1, in the North Atlantic Ocean for “violations of US sanctions.”
