(Adnkronos) – Two people were killed and at least six others were injured on the sidelines of a funeral in Salt Lake City, the capital of the American state of Utah. Police reported this. Three of the injured are in critical condition. The shots were fired last night in the parking lot of a Mormon church, where the funeral was taking place. Police told journalists on the scene that there had been an altercation earlier and that they were looking for suspects. On X, they wrote that they had “obtained concrete clues and are working to identify those involved.” No arrests have been made so far. The FBI has offered its assistance.
Mayor Erin Mendenhall expressed solidarity with the victims. “This tragedy should never have happened, but the fact that it occurred outside a place of worship during a celebration of life is particularly heartbreaking,” she wrote on social media.
