(Adnkronos) – US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke in recent hours with the Argentine Foreign Minister and the President of Ecuador, with whom he discussed the situation in Venezuela. Rubio – reported State Department Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Piggot – spoke with his Argentine counterpart, Pablo Quirno, about the operation conducted by Washington and expressed gratitude to the Buenos Aires authorities for their continued cooperation in the fight against narcoterrorism and in strengthening security in the region.

Rubio – the same source reported – also spoke with Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa to discuss the attack and regional efforts to promote stability in Venezuela. He also thanked Quito for its collaboration in the fight against narcoterrorism and in strengthening security in the hemisphere.

Rubio finally had a third conversation with Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana – which has a border dispute with Venezuela over control of the Essequibo region – with whom he discussed “further strengthening security” and whose “leadership” he praised as a “partner for regional security” and for the South American country’s “growing role” in “promoting stability” in the Western Hemisphere. “The Secretary reiterated the United States’ commitment to deepening security cooperation to address common challenges, including drug and firearms trafficking, which threaten regional stability and economic resilience,” he stated.
