(Adnkronos) – The United States has taken control of the Marinera oil tanker after more than two weeks of pursuit in the Atlantic. An American official told Nbc, specifying that the operation was led by the Department of Homeland Security with the support of the military.
According to the official, American agents are currently on board the tanker, previously named Bella 1 and then renamed Marinera. The unit, which in the past transported Venezuelan crude oil and sailed under the Russian flag, is suspected by Washington of having violated sanctions and transported Iranian oil.
