(Adnkronos) – Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of Iran, would be ready to flee to Russia if Tehran’s armed forces fail to quell the anti-government and cost-of-living protests ongoing for a week in the country. This is reported by the British newspaper ‘The Times’, citing intelligence sources. Khamenei has not left Iran since 1989, when he assumed power.
Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad also fled to Moscow on December 8, 2024, after the Syrian rebel offensive led to the fall of his regime.
