Venezuela, Maduro hears Trump: “Drugs and oil, ready for dialogue with USA”

(Adnkronos) – “We only had one conversation. He called me on Friday, November 21st, from the White House.” So said Nicolás Maduro in an interview broadcast by Vtv after Donald Trump said he had spoken “very recently” with the Venezuelan president. Meanwhile, Maduro confirmed he is ready for dialogue with Washington because – he said – “we need to start talking seriously.”

The November conversation, Maduro maintained, was a “ten-minute exchange,” it was “very respectful,” even if “subsequent developments were not pleasant.” The Venezuelan president avoided responding to the alleged US operation mentioned in recent days but insisted on dialogue.

“If they want to talk seriously about an agreement to combat drug trafficking, we are ready – he said – If they want oil, Venezuela is ready for US investments, as with Chevron, whenever they want, wherever they want, however they want.” And, he added, “even if they want economic development agreements.”
