(Adnkronos) – “For 27 weeks, Venezuela has been threatened by Goliath, and for 27 weeks our armed forces have been deployed with intelligence, wisdom, and strategic patience.” Thus, Nicolas Maduro referred to the military pressure campaign, and now naval blockade, that the imposing forces deployed by the US in the Caribbean have been carrying out since last September, in his year-end speech to the Venezuelan military forces.
“Armed forces that are ‘more ready than ever to continue winning peace with territorial integrity for all our people’,” added the Venezuelan leader in the speech broadcast by Globovision television, during which he also addressed Venezuelan immigrants abroad who are reportedly returning to the country. “We welcome with open arms all our brothers who have emigrated; many have returned taking advantage of December to stay here,” he said, alluding to the Christmas holidays.
