Taiwan: Beijing, ‘external forces should not exploit situation, risk of dangerous scenario’

(Adnkronos) – “Attempts by external forces to ‘exploit Taiwan to contain China’ and arm Taiwan will only fuel the arrogance of separatist forces for ‘Taiwan independence’ and push the Taiwan Strait into a dangerous situation.” This was stated by the spokesperson for Beijing’s Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian, in statements reported by the Global Times, in which he spoke of a “serious warning” after the start of military exercises near Taiwan, a de facto independent island for which China wants “reunification” without excluding the use of force. The People’s Republic insists on “safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
