24 Dicembre 2025

Tokyo, Dec. 24 (Jiji Press)–Japanese and U.S. officials held the second round of talks Tuesday on which U.S. projects will receive Japanese funding as part of a trade agreement between the two countries, the Japanese government said Wednesday. Under the deal, Japan pledged to provide the United States with 550 billion dollars in investment and loans, in exchange for the U.S. lowering tariffs on imports from Japan. The two sides confirmed at Tuesday’s online meeting of the consultative committee that they will accelerate coordination to determine the first project at an early date. Japanese industry minister Ryosei Akazawa and U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick took part in the meeting for the first time. The consultative committee will give advice to the U.S. investment committee, which will recommend projects to President Donald Trump, who will make the final decisions.
