(Adnkronos) – The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, announced that an agreement had been reached with Moscow to extend gas supplies from Russia for three months, until March 31, “so that people can be safe and sleep peacefully” during the winter. Gazprom representatives are discussing the acquisition of assets in the Serbian oil company Nis, together with the Hungarian company Mol, emphasizing that Belgrade has no objections to such a transaction, according to the Serbian news agency Tanjug.
The previous agreement with the Russian gas company Gazprom, through which Serbia receives Russian gas, had a duration of three years. However, after its expiration, the option initially offered by Russia was limited to three months, due to Western sanctions against Russian companies and the ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
