(Adnkronos) – “Greenland is our country, our decisions are made here.” Thus, the premier of the Danish autonomous island territory, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, replied to Donald Trump, who reiterated last night that the United States needs Greenland for “national security.” In a Facebook post, the premier said he was “sad” after hearing Trump talk again about his ambitions for the island, “these words reduce our country to a matter of security and power: this is not how we see ourselves, and it is not how we in Greenland can and should be described.” Nielsen then thanked his people for “the calm and dignity” with which they are facing this situation and for the support coming from other international leaders: “This support confirms that we are not alone.”
