Japan Pledges 6 B. Dollars in Additional Aid to Ukraine

Tokyo, Dec. 19 (Jiji Press)–Japan will provide around 6 billion dollars, or about 940 billion yen, in additional financial assistance to Ukraine in the first half of 2026. Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama unveiled this plan at an online meeting of finance and central bank chiefs from the Group of Seven major countries on Friday. The meeting to discuss support for Ukraine facing the Russian invasion was the final meeting under Canada’s G-7 chairmanship. France will be the group’s chair next year.
