Venezuela, national oil company accuses US of cyber attack

15 Dicembre 2025

(Adnkronos) – Venezuela’s national oil company, Pdvsa, has denounced a “despicable” cyber attack against its installations, pointing to the United States as possible perpetrators of these actions, aimed at “stopping the company’s activity.” “Thanks to the expertise of Pdvsa’s human talent, operational areas were not affected in any way; the attack was limited to its administrative system,” reads a company note published on Telegram.

The oil company explains that “security protocols” allowed it to avoid problems “with the supply of products to the national market” and to comply “with all export commitments.” The statement complains that this “attempted aggression” adds to “the public strategy of the United States government to seize Venezuelan oil by force and piracy,” referring to last week’s tanker seizure.

“We categorically reject this despicable action orchestrated by foreign interests,” the note continues, denouncing an attempt to attack “the right to sovereign energy development.” “It must be remembered,” it concludes, “that this is not the first time that the United States government, allied with extremist sectors, has sought to undermine national stability and steal Christmas from the Venezuelan people.”
