(Adnkronos) – The EU Council has extended the duration of restrictive measures against Venezuela for another year, until January 10, 2027. The decision was taken in light of “persistent actions” that undermine democracy and the rule of law, as well as “continuous human rights violations” and the repression of civil society and the democratic opposition, also in relation to the conduct and subsequent developments of the presidential elections of July 28, 2024. Today, sixty-nine people are subject to asset freezes and a ban on receiving funds or economic resources, either directly or indirectly, as well as travel bans within the European Union.
