(Adnkronos) – There are more than 30 dead due to the latest escalation on the border between Thailand and Cambodia. Bangkok confirmed a toll of 17 dead, three civilians and 14 soldiers, while Phnom Penh reported 15 victims.

The Cambodian Minister of Information, Neth Phreaktra, spoke of a toll that continues to worsen after Thai forces attacked Cambodian territory despite the ceasefire that had been announced by Donald Trump.

In total, according to reports, 73 people were injured. According to the Thai Army, four of the fallen soldiers were killed in the last 24 hours. The Cambodian Ministry of Defense states that it is “responding” to Thai attacks with “the legitimate use of force to defend its sovereignty.” The latest escalation on the border between the two countries began on Monday when Thailand attacked Cambodian targets, reporting the death of one of its soldiers at the hands of Cambodian forces.
