(Adnkronos) – The head of United Nations peacekeeping operations has warned of the risk of escalation in the Great Lakes region following the new offensive by the M23 armed group in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo. “In recent days, the new offensive launched by the Afc/M23 in South Kivu has reawakened the specter of a regional conflict with incalculable consequences,” Jean-Pierre Lacroix told the UN Security Council.
