(Adnkronos) – Russia has announced the capture of Siversk, in eastern Ukraine, considered one of the last defensive strongholds hindering the advance towards the major cities of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. The fall of the populated area would represent a significant step for Russian forces on the Donetsk front.
President Vladimir Putin has been informed by military leaders of the “complete transfer of Siversk under our control,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov, quoted by Tass.
