Tokyo, Dec. 11 (Jiji Press)–Japanese national security adviser Keiichi Ichikawa and his German counterpart, Gunter Sautter, on Wednesday agreed to enhance cooperation between their countries, including on supply chains. Ichikawa apparently explained Tokyo’s stance on Beijing’s coercive actions, including China’s use of military radar on Japanese fighter jets, during the call with Sautter. Beijing has unleashed a diplomatic campaign to pressure Tokyo since Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s parliamentary remarks last month on a Taiwan conflict. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told his German counterpart, Johann Wadephul, in Beijing on Monday that unlike Germany, Japan has not fully repented for its history of aggression even 80 years after the end of World War II, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
