(Adnkronos) – Italy and India want to achieve trade worth 20 billion euros a year by 2029, foreign minister Antonio Tajani confirmed at a joint press conference in Mumbai on Thursday with industry and trade minister Piyush Goyal.
“As (India’s) prime minister (Narendra) Modi and (Italy’s) premier Giorgia Meloni have underlined, our aim is to reach 20 billion euros worth of bilateral trade by 2029,” Tajani said.
“This is a feasible goal,” said Tajani.
The value of trade between Italy and India hit 14.3 billion last year, with exports worth 5.2 billion (+0.8%) and imports 9.1 billion (-0.4%), according to foreign ministry figures.
Populous India’s robust economic growth offers an array of opportunities for Italian companies, especially in the high-tech, machinery, space, defence, infrastructure, renewable energy, and digitalization sectors, according to the foreign ministry.
