USA, rumors of Noem’s departure, names circulating for new Homeland Security Secretary

10 Dicembre 2025

(Adnkronos) – The White House says Kristi Noem isn’t going anywhere, but that doesn’t stop Washington insiders from circulating names that could replace the Homeland Security Secretary who, in recent months, has been the face of Donald Trump’s mass migrant deportation agenda. According to Politico, the names circulating within the Trump administration and on Capitol Hill are those of Fox News commentator and former congressman, Jason Chaffetz, and Glenn Youngkin, whose term as Virginia governor ends in January.

These revelations would therefore confirm rumors that the former South Dakota governor’s days within the administration are coming to an end. Despite extensive media exposure, with photos in camouflage and bulletproof vests alongside ICE agents engaged in anti-immigrant raids, or the shocking photo depicting her in front of a cage where migrants she deported to El Salvador were confined, semi-naked, there seems to be frustration with how Noem is managing the agency.

And above all, the fear that she might mess up with the billions of dollars in new funds her agency received this year. Not to mention the tensions between her and border czar Tom Homan over how to execute Trump’s anti-migrant agenda. “I hear from several people that she is about to leave,” reveals a source close to the administration, explaining that they don’t want to fire Noem but rather have her voluntarily leave to pursue “another opportunity,” complete with praise for the work done in recent months.
